Lack Of Control

India struggles with a lack of control over their mental health care. The country of India has a too many patients for a limited number of doctors. "Despite 15 suicides every hour and 133,623 suicides in 2015, India is short of 66,200 psychiatrists and 269,750 psychiatrist nurses" (IndiaSpend). This is a problem since the patients need access to the doctors and mental hospitals. This relates back to the massive territory that the India government is in charge of control but are failing in the aspect of mental health.

Lack of Budget

India struggles with a lack of budget on mental health care. "India spends around 0.06 per cent of its health budget on mental health" (BusinessWorld). This is a huge issue since India is on of the top countries when it comes to mental health issue and depression rates. It will be very hard to change the depression epidemic when they do not have the resources to do it.

Stigma of Depression

The topic of depression in India is not talked about since it is a taboo subject. Even when depression is talked about the information is misleading and confusing to the audience. That is why it is important that the government is informed properly so they can create helpful campaigns and programs.

Here is an example of the misleading information created in India. This is a poster created to help people cope with depression. It was created by the Ministry of Health in India. The problem with this image is they are simple task to be done but someone with depression does not know how to do them, For example the part where it states 'think positive' but someone struggling with depression can not do this. Also there should be a part where it says 'seek help" since most people can not overcome depression alone.
