Critical Thinking Questions

Critical Thinking Learning outcomes for this project involved:

1) Assessing the quality of information we integrated into our project pages

This part of the project was a little more difficult. It was hard to find articles that were very specific to depression in India. We had to do research on the general topic then narrow it done to the more specific project after we had a better understanding. For example when looking for the interventions used we look for broad interventions for depression in general. Then after we were able to find specific ones that were actually used in India.

2) Integrating our research and insights into understanding the problem

This part of the project came easier than other since most of the problems related to each other. Many of the articles included multiple aspects of the issue in one. For example the political aspect and economic aspect are very similar. As we found information for the political problems they were also associated with the economic problems. Since the aspects were similar we were able to understand the problem of depression and how many different factors influence one problem.

3) Evaluating the information, ideas, and activities according to logic, clarity, effectiveness

In order to evaluate the information it was important to find many different sources all relating to the same topic. We did this to make sure the information we were finding was reliable and not containing any bias. It was important to research the topic and not just pick the first article, picture or video that we found. The big problem with depression in India is that the population is so large that it is hard to reach all they people that need help. The interventions can be helpful to the ones that can access them but more intervention need to be put in place for all of the people struggling in India. As a group we agreed that India has come a long way from the highly stigmatized mental issue but is a long way from curing and preventing the problem in the future.
